The exhibition will be the opening event of the Budapest Photo Festival.

“As a filmmaker, David Lynch has embraced the various Surrealist approaches, not least in the incongruous pairing of suburban banality with the esoteric, the unnerving and the violent,” the publicity material of the exhibition says.

With Surrealism and Lynch’s own latter-day incarnations, the narrative is one of continually shifting contexts and emotions, from humor to beauty to profound unease, often within a single shot.

Lynch is considered one of the most important film directors of his era and – on account of also being a painter, musician, actor and photographer – some consider him “the Renaissance man of modern American filmmaking.”

The exhibition opens on March 1st and lasts until June 2nd.
