An Afghan asylum seeker and convicted pedophile has told a German court that he raped a teenager who fell asleep on an inter-city train because he “felt like it.”

The court in Stuttgart heard how 30-year-old defendant, Sefatullah S., targeted his 19-year-old victim on the ICE 619 train from Stuttgart to Ulm on Aug. 7, 2023. At around 3:45 a.m., the young woman fell asleep in her seat and rested her head on the communal table in front of her.

When she awoke, she found the defendant’s penis in her mouth.

“I felt like it, so I did it,” the defendant told the court nonchalantly before claiming the judicial process and questioning by judges was nothing but “blah, blah.”

When asked about his background, it transpired the Afghan national had arrived in Germany during the migrant crisis of 2015 and was — and still is — illiterate. Until his arrest, he resided in a refugee home paid for by the German taxpayer with his eleven siblings.

He remains on benefits in Germany and told the court, “I used my welfare money to buy whiskey and marijuana,” as cited by the Bild newspaper.

The defendant has already been previously convicted for “sexual crimes to the detriment of children” but after his release from custody, he was ordered to attend a program for convicts with a significant risk of reoffending — a program he never attended.

Sefatullah S. is unlikely to see the inside of a prison cell after a psychiatric assessment reported that he has limited culpability due to ongoing mental health problems.

He was placed in pre-trial detention in a psychiatric hospital in Ravensburg and has told experts that he hears voices.
