A Polish border guard was injured in an attack by illegal migrants on Saturday during another restless day at the Polish-Belarusian border.

The Polish Border Guard reported 78 illegal border crossing attempts on Saturday and another 54 attempts on Sunday as border officials continue to repel illegal migrants flown into Minsk who trek to the Polish border in a bid to reach the European Union.

Every day, attempts of illegal entry are reported and incidents involving migrant attacks on Polish servicemen also occur.

The illegal entry attempts over the weekend primarily involved migrants from Eritrea, India and Yemen, among others. Upon sight of the Border Guard patrols, 12 people turned back to Belarus.

In addition, groups of foreign nationals located on the Belarusian side attacked Polish border guards three times with stones. During the attacks, one of the Polish soldiers patrolling the area of the Polish-Belarusian border was injured. A vehicle belonging to the Border Guard was also damaged with numerous dents.

On Friday, three people were arrested for transporting illegal migrants through Poland. Two Tajiks were transporting five Eritreans, and a Ukrainian was transporting four Syrians.

Since the beginning of 2023, Border Guard officers have recorded over 16,000 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border. Additionally, 421 people involved in organizing illegal border crossings have been detained.
